Case Study

LUXITA

Bringing fashion to your fingertips.

Project

Creating the official site for LUXITA at the Chi Spa in Shangri-La. A newly opened nail salon in Tokyo, Japan. I took a 7-week trip to Japan which I completed this project. Working closely with the salon owners I developed an English website with the corresponding Japanese equivalent. As well attending meetings between JoliArts Co. and Shangri-La Tokyo management.

Content is King

The old saying "content is king" is serious working abroad. Words needed to be both written and translated into Japanese. Having only partial text and majority lorem ipsum slowed down translation. And when a decision was made to start with translations despite the incomplete English text nor approved final draft, I knew I'd be in for a daunting back and forth.

Lesson Learned

Create the content early if not first.

Photos

Professional photos make a HUGE difference. Diamond nails only had a few. Other pages lacked luster. Photos taken by salonists' phones weren't enough. Interestingly the photoshoot took place on my last day on the job. Manage to create a site with what I had. Once the photos were switched the difference was evident.

Lesson Learned

Beg more for professional photos and press for an early photoshoot.
